A TREATMENT THAT COMES FROM YOU
Like dermal fillers, PRP is administered using injections and helps give the skin a rejuvenated appearance. However, unlike dermal fillers, PRP is 100% natural and does not “fill” the skin. Instead, it utilizes your body’s own growth factors to achieve skin that is firmer, healthier, brighter, and more youthful-looking.
REJUVENATE YOUR SKIN USING MICRONEEDLING WITH YOUR OWN HEALING SERUM!
While dermatologists recently started using PRP to stimulate collagen production, orthopaedic doctors have injected PRP to heal injured joints — typically ankles, knees and elbows — for many years.
It’s the high amount of growth factors in PRP that help your body heal.
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is concentrated blood plasma which contains approximately five times the number of platelets found in normal circulating blood. In addition, it contains platelet derived growth factor (PDGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), transforming growth factor (TGF) and other bioactive proteins that aid in wound healing, tissue regeneration, collagen production, formation of new blood vessels to the treated area and possibly hair growth.
Human blood is comprised primarily of red blood cells (RBC), as well as white blood cells (WBC), platelets, and plasma. By initiating the first step of coagulation, platelets are the key to the body’s ability to heal wounds. It is thought that by increasing the platelet count in a wounded area, the body’s healing to that area would be accelerated – explaining the use of PRP in wound healing. Its effects on promoting hair growth make it useful for the medical treatment of hair loss.
This treatment involves injecting a concentrated source of PRP obtained from patient’s own blood to into respective area of concern to promote tissue healing. PRP has been used not only for cosmetic purposes but also in treating orthopedic conditions such as joint degenerative conditions, tendonitis, plastic surgery, wound healing post surgery or burn injury to name a few.
PRP treatment is a great option for:
-
Improving wrinkles and lines at the surrounding eyes, mouth, forehead and neck
-
Acne Scars
-
Dull lifeless and sagging skin
-
It can be used in Combination with Fractional Erbium or Non Ablative laser treatment for enhanced effect
-
Hair loss treatment
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING MICRONEEDLING WITH A PRP SESSION?
On the day of the procedure, you medical practitioner will apply a local anesthetic agent after which a small blood sample is taken and centrifuged. The prepared growth factor(s) is injected using the SkinPen microneedling device to help the biologically active materials to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin.
During the treatment, we ensure there is minimal discomfort or pain. While some minor irritation and redness are common after the therapy, these can easily be managed with medications.
The entire procedure can take anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes to complete and you can usually get back to your activities after the treatment.
HOW SOON ARE THE RESULTS VISIBLE?
The PRP treatments provide even longer-lasting results as they continue to release growth factors over time.
Many patients observe that their skin is healthier looking immediately following the procedure. It can, however, take a few weeks for the natural repair process to complete. The number of sessions you need depends on the extent of damage that needs to be treated and the recommendation of your medical provider. The treatment results may vary for each patient due to several factors like age, skin issues, and at-home routine.
A series of 3 treatments, 3-6 weeks apart provides the most corrective and rejuvenating results.
